What is going on in our world today? Well this past week, was the first day of spring and we just celebrated St. Patty's Day. So, yeah, it's been kind of a nice spring week The weather hasn't been too bad. Yeah, I've been out with the animals a little bit. I will say the chickens are starting to lay a little bit better. Well, we thought they were right. They stepped it up for a bit after what? Not laying for almost a year. Yeah, I've heard some things on the Internet about the

different chicken foods and how it affects them. And I have to say I'm a believer now because we switched it up and all of a sudden they're starting to produce. Yeah, was a big TikTok thing, I don't know, couple years ago and everyone was going down these rabbit holes about why their chickens stopped laying and we kind of experienced it later. our chickens went from laying like almost a dozen a day to like one or two or none. And it went like all

summer all last summer and even into the fall so then we changed it from Walmart chicken food to a little store we have down here it's yeah it's locally produced it's not

Processed the way that the food would be that you're getting from Walmart or some of the larger chains It's amazing the difference. Yeah, so now we're kind of back into Gathering quite a few eggs on a daily basis. I think I've posted a picture We actually have Easter colored eggs. We've got blue and green and Different color Browns and even kind of a pinkish one that we get it's it's kind of cool You know, but something that you mentioned there is kind of interesting

there's a lot of good information, but then there's some kind of scary stuff behind the scenes. Oh, yes, there is. And there was one that we're going to delve into today. was, think that started on TikTok called the TikTok Dancers and Dancing for the Devil That was the Netflix special Dancing for the Devil. And yeah, so let's delve into that a little bit. Yeah. So we're going to call this one

cults, TikTok fame to spiritual manipulation. when you think about cults you think of years ago, ⁓ Charles Manson was the head of a cult. You definitely think about more the hippie movement or at least I did. I always thought of these really weird people

I think the difference with Charles Manson was that his group actually went out and committed crimes on people outside of the cult. Yeah. Well, normally it's the opposite where they get all these people to follow them. And the very first thing they really want to do is they want to separate you. They want to cut off all ties to family, friends, anybody that's not in their association. Yeah. So basically you're talking isolation.

And the leader is usually kind of charismatic. I that's what draws the people in, They suck them in by being really friendly and hey, this is the best thing in your life and come follow me your life will get better. You're gonna make more money, which is exactly what this guy did with the tick-tock dancers Well, you think about all of the different organizations out there. not only this one the tick-tock dancers, but various churches

things that are supposed to be community organizations and such, and so what would you do if you found that you were in the middle of a cult? can you imagine waking up one day and realizing, hey, wait a minute, I think I'm in a cult. And I had a tiny experience with that. you were able to actually recognize it. yeah. Some of these places are not easily recognizable. ⁓ no.

you said they're very charismatic leaders and it isn't just churches this guy was you know a shekinah church is what it was called but there's yoga

the FLDS

the fundamentalist which is not related to the regular

They wouldn't claim one

FLDS fundamental Latter-day Saints Completely separate organization and we don't want to confuse them with the mainstream Mormon. No, we don't

religion but tell us about your little bit of experience with a cult. So this was probably ⁓ almost 30 years ago we were living in a different place we were actually living downtown and there was a lady that lived across the street from us and you were working a lot and I was home

our neighbor, she was a very friendly lady. We liked her. She actually babysat for us once or twice. She had kids. So she asked me to go to church with her one day. And I was like, okay, you were either working or out of town or something. I was like, okay, I'll go to church with you. We had our own church, but I'm not opposed to going to someone else's church with them.

we get we get ready and we go to church and we'll walk in and at first it seems somewhat normal

Although she had said a few things to me

before going to church that kinda had some questions in my mind. Because what she told me was, ⁓ I always felt like I've been led to be a preacher's wife. well maybe that's like a calling, like a preacher gets a calling. so we go to church and ⁓ first off, it starts out okay, we're singing and everything, it seems a little normal.

starts the sermon. And I'm telling you, the stuff that he was saying, the hair on the back of my neck started standing up and I started getting very uncomfortable. When he was preaching, he started talking about how... ⁓

If you've been called to be a preacher, come up forward and stand up here. And so a bunch of the guys did. They got up and they walked down there and I was like, hmm, that's kind of weird. And then he goes, now, if you've ever been called to be a preacher's wife, I want you to come up here too. And I was thinking, hmm, okay, this is getting a little weirder. And then so he goes on and on and he starts talking about it. And if you're not sure, you just come talk to me and I'll show you the way.

feel like you are being called. I'll introduce you and I'm thinking holy crap They're talking about arranged marriages here, and I need to get out of here and a little bit of Sunday morning matchmaking yes. Yes for sure and I was not digging it I really don't remember everything because was 30 years ago But

that was the biggest thing it felt like he was matchmaking He was telling who should marry who?

and who's being called, and I was like, this just doesn't seem right. after that, I really wasn't too keen to go back with her I think I did actually.

Go back with her one more time, but that was enough for me. was like, nope, this is not not where I want to

it's interesting what you're saying there is one of the traits of a leader of some of these churches and such as like they can they promise these people, I'm going to show you the way to spirituality or I'm going to improve your finances beyond your comprehension,

have something that they're going to give these people to kind of suck them in and it sounds like this guy that you experienced was definitely playing matchmaker and so for the congregants that weren't you know in a relationship or something maybe that's appealing well and I don't know if you remember we stayed friends with this lady she had been married and had several kids and was divorced but

I don't know if you remember but he had girls living with her and then after we moved he had her move out of where she was and into someone else's place and she had like four or five kids I remember. Yeah and I recall there being some discussion of him controlling her finances as well. and telling her what to go to school for and stuff it was weird

similar situation, got tick tock fame because these dancers were on tick tock and you already also touched on

There was another documentary. called Twisted Yoga. both of those situations dealt with spirituality and how their leaders were. Well, all three, I think that we'll talk about today really have a lot to do with spirituality. But the first one, the TikTok dancers had probably more to do with finances than ⁓ leading them to God.

He's got like almost total control of the people's finances. And the yoga one, twisted yoga, was not spiritual in like a Christian sense or something. It was a different type of spirituality. Maybe more on Hindu or something like that. I don't know that it was specific, but actually that one was more of a sexual exploitation. you look into that twisted yoga, and this is not just

in one country, this was worldwide. The Shekinah and Robert Shin, who was the so-called preacher, or is the preacher of that one, is basically here in the United States. So let's delve into Robert Shin and Shekinah. this all starts a long time ago, over 30 years. like over 30 years ago, he is married, and I believe his wife is Korean.

or at least partly Korean? he is definitely active in the Korean immigrant community He works with them. I know from his bio that it says he is actually Canadian born and then he came to the United States and moved down to the Los Angeles area,

But 20 years ago.

He met these two girls, ⁓ was Melanie and Priscilla Lee. their mother and father had divorced and the mother brought the girls over here to the US. And so when they got here they didn't really know anybody. Their mother was an alcoholic so she was never around.

or partying and kind of left the girls to their own and so one of them found the church and They went and the preacher was very nice and he's like, ⁓ come over. Let's have dinner so and there was a lot of other Korean girls there

They were setting up

businesses and they were starting to try to recruit some of these immigrants to work in those businesses. Yeah, because they didn't have jobs, they didn't have money, they had several different businesses and one of them was a real estate

didn't have a good place to stay.

Stay in my house come stay with me. Well, they get them kind of dependent on them. They give them jobs and now they're living with them and they're feeding them Well, that's just little by little They're indoctrinating them into this and they are beginning to isolate them because they don't have really any contact ⁓ with anyone outside the church or outside their group as far as

family support system, friends, anything like that. And so these two were sisters and they eventually even separate these two sisters. They put them in different houses. They have them working different jobs. These people are working like massive hours and getting paid bare minimum. And when they do get paid, they have them open a checking account and they're okay, we'll put all this money in here.

here's your checks, but we need you to sign all of these checks, know, just sign them with nothing filled out take a whole checkbook and sign every single check in there and then give it back to the one lady who's supposed to be the accountant that's going to deposit money into their bank account and What they're saying is well, we're gonna just take care of all your bills for you You know You have to give 10 % to the church and you have to give a 10 % offering and then Robert Shin

described himself as the man of God. So you had to give 10 % to the man of God. Yeah, they called it the 10-10-10. Right. And then there were additional offerings to the church. Well, they also charged them rent. like 20 % of whatever they're making. And this is kind of common as well later on with the TikTok dancers. But with these ladies,

Like the one who is in real estate, she is making multi-million dollar deals and yet she would only have like $40 to her name at the end of the week they were telling her, need to sign all these checks and then they were taking her money and they were buying nice things for themselves like, you know, name brand clothing and purses and cars and stuff. And so she had finally saved up enough to buy her own car. It was a really nice car. And they're like, no, you're not really,

for this. So they took her car away from her and gave her this crappy beat-up one

she was making all this money, but trying to live on eighty dollars every two weeks, they come at them from a bunch of different angles because they're indoctrinating them into the church and saying that he's a man of God and then they're also isolating them from other family members and then on the work front, know, they've

given them these jobs and they've taken everything from them so they can't really go anywhere else and get employment. like trapped. Yeah, they're really trapped in a single place. So one of the sisters spends 10 years in this and starts to realize there's something wrong. Well, it comes down then to the next thing, which is sexual

he starts having these women come in and give him massages which is right along the lines of Epstein he's got these young girls there and he's making slow but sexual advances to them ⁓ and putting them in a Position where they feel like they can't say no, right? Yeah, they're cuz if they say no then they're

not getting closer to God and closer to the man of God, but yet they're feeling uncomfortable and I'm pretty sure he ends up having sex with a lot of these girls. So the one girl that had been, the sister had been in there for 10 years, she's like, I gotta get out of here. She's like, this is messed up and she had been kind of being abused too, I believe by either his wife or one of the head ladies. So she devises a plan and we won't.

But she gets out of there and she goes to pick up her sister because she said I'm not leaving her here I'm gonna take her with me. So she goes to get her sister and her sister's like no no I'm not leaving this is where I want to be so she doesn't have much choice so she ends up leaving and her sister ends up staying there for 23 years. And I think that that's kind of one of the signature things of a cult is that some of the people that are in there and being taken advantage of don't realize

how bad it is or how brainwashed they are because they will stay when they are obviously being abused, financially taken advantage of, all these different things are going on but yet they stick by it. I think they're kind of afraid, they don't know how to get out of it.

I think just like most people, you don't want to admit that you were ever wrong or that you were that gullible to be taken advantage of.

of them, decides to sue Robert Shinn. But it doesn't go anywhere because for one thing they manipulate these girls so much with the sign checks it looks like

They're doing this all willingly right so the police's hands are kind of tied Yeah, that's a really another problem with cults is the fact that they can take advantage of these people and Yet it appears to the outside that no laws have been violated these people went along with these things willingly So it isn't like coercion where someone's holding a gun to your head,

this takes us up to where the new TikTok dancers are and there's two main sisters again that you're probably familiar with and that is Miranda and Melanie in their last name was Wilking and their mother and father were a big push in there careers they were big dancers before this tick tock thing ever started ⁓

Miranda was the oldest and Melanie was the youngest and so Miranda ended up moving to California She had somewhat of a following on social media and was doing really well with dancing and she wanted to make that her life her profession so she moves from Minnesota out to LA and starts ⁓ Trying to expand her social media presence and she invites her sister to come out about a year later

And join her and the two of them actually get quite a following Robert Shin is trying to recruit people off of tik-tok He is running this Religious organization, but then he also has all of these other businesses and so he

7M Management and then he starts trying to recruit some of these people that are on

out of all of the dancers that he's recruiting he's actually looking for the ones that have a pretty significant Following already or already famous and have deals. Sponsorship deals where various companies were paying them to use their products during their YouTube videos and such Miranda ends up

Marrying one of them and his name was James Derek and he went by the nickname of B-dash But there were a number of other dancers that started taking part in this ⁓ Nick Joseph Kylie Douglas

Kevin Davis? He goes by concrete on the street. So those were some of the names that were starting to be out there and you would see these guys in these TikTok videos. If you've never seen it, I mean, their moves were awesome dancers, every one of them. And they kind of had a hook with some of the older generation because a lot of the songs that they were using were ones from the seventies and eighties timeframe. There was something to that though, because they weren't really so keen on this.

But that was Robert's idea. He picked the music once they joined with him and it turned out to be a good thing because a lot of people got into the older songs. what they do is say, we'll provide you the housing and we're going to move you in where everyone can live together and then you guys can just make content that will go out to social media all the time. And they would manage them them and they would spend the entire day or

weeks sometimes just developing content putting it out there and of course the money is flowing into 7m management they're supposed to put it into each of the dancers accounts and it's the same scheme that we talked about they start with the 10-10-10 so they take that then they're having them in the housing so they have they charge them for that they take a percentage because now they're their managers so they take that

it just turns into a whole scheme So and then the isolation

Melanie who is Miranda's sister had gotten invited to come to one of the church services and such and she thought this was kind of interesting and she went to a dinner and Because her sister was already doing it right? Yeah, she was just kind of following along what Miranda was already doing But she actually was able to spot some of this and say I'm not comfortable with it

Didn't it come down to when their grandfather died? Yes, that was probably the biggest turning point because Miranda was already starting to cut off ties with her family and

wouldn't allow her to go visit her family when her grandfather dies, she's told about the funeral and she says well I'm gonna have to ask someone closer to God

If I can go and so this was the one of the big keys that really made her family feel uneasy about this group

actually said something to her sister about that too, but her sister says I don't care what you say I'm going back to for the funeral, right? Melanie comes back for the funeral Miranda does

the separation between Miranda and the family is even getting wider and wider she has gotten engaged to James Derrick and James had actually even spent some time at Wilking's house in Minnesota during the COVID time frame when everyone was supposed to be isolating so it's not like the parents didn't know who he was but when it actually comes time to get married Miranda and James get

married and don't tell any of the family members. Well, they didn't even tell anybody they got engaged. Her family found out by watching a TikTok video. they were completely separated at that point. And then, when they did get married, no one was invited. They didn't tell them when or where they just found out they had been married. So as the separation grows even wider, the Wilkins family decides to start going to

Social media themselves and they put a video out there Describing what's starting to go on and their suspicions that Shekina church and 7m is part of a cult right and this starts a little bit of a firestorm on social media back and forth because Miranda is saying no, I'm okay. This is fine. This is where I want to be this is but her sister and some of the other ones which I'm

pretty sure it was concrete and Kylie and a couple of other dancers are saying you know what we are in a cult and we're gonna get out I think around half of them left left 7m right and it was about the same time frame when all of this is happening when the Lee sisters saw it come up right and realized they couldn't believe this

still going on so they gather together and

Launch a lawsuit against Robert Shin and she kind of church the sad thing here is that in these lawsuits they need all these people to come forward because they're like well one person isn't enough and so they get that some of the tic-tac dancers to come forward and state what was going on like how they were doing the same thing to them like they have to give them all this money and signing checks and stuff and then when the Lee sisters find out they're like, my gosh, like you said, I can't believe this is going on Well, then they contact them and like well we would like you guys to come in

and tell your story. And well, they were pretty uncertain as to whether they wanted to do that, because they're like, this is really embarrassing. This happened in my life. I'm trying to get away from it. And so I think one of them does, but the other one says, no, I'm not ready to do it. She eventually does do it. But the sad thing is that the way they describe it is they go in and these officers are taking their statement, but they feel very uncomfortable.

as an investigator I have seen how giving your statement almost Victimizes this person a second time around right because you have to talk about all of these painful things The unfortunate part is that without you talking about it It'll never get to court and so yeah, it put them in a really tough spot and the sad thing is though is that they went in even though they didn't want to they gave their statements and

And I think they did it more than one time. And the lawsuit, it hasn't gone anywhere. Nothing's happened. He's still out there. He's still doing what he's doing. It hasn't hurt

hardly at all. There is a lawsuit that's still pending. it is moving forward. I did see that there was some activity back in January of this year in the court system, but it has not been resolved. He's never probably going to go to prison or

for any of the things that he's done at this point in time. The FBI has gotten involved, it's a slow moving process and very difficult to prove.

the problem with cults is that they usually prey on the people that are within the cult. They're not going outside It would be one thing if a cult got together and came over and robbed your house in the middle of night And it'd be very easy to say these guys weren't invited. They they robbed me ⁓ And you could send them to prison But when the robbing takes place from within and it appears to be with your own permission ⁓ very difficult

to prove.

Take a bad rap because of the fact that cults Expand from these christian things like Shekinah of church Shekinah of actually when I first saw the name I was thinking was some form of robert shin I thought so too. Yeah, but then I ended up looking it up and it's actually a hebrew word which means like the presence of god you take this thing that's supposed to be christian in orientation and they turn it into such a bad thing, but it's not just christian

the other documentary that we watched the twisted yoga That seemed so innocuous in the fact that this was worldwide worldwide you would have never guessed that each of these yoga studios were somehow connected because they all had like different names and belonged to different organizations, but they were Throughout all of these different countries, but they somehow were

all connected back to one guy.

Gregorian Bivaluru and he is out of Romania And he's not really a good-looking guy. No, but he has set himself up as the master Yoga guru.

the weird thing about it is, is you've got all of these different yoga places and I'm not sure if they are contacted to send people or if the school

a place of higher learning or that's what it's touted to be for yoga. I it is because they get these people that are wanting to become either more spiritual or they're searching for something, something enlightening,

a lot of it is around sex, yoga you start out with positions and you're supposed to look into your inner self and relax and get connected with the world and all this. And so a lot of the women that were in

this documentary, we're talking about how they just wanted to become more enlightened. They want to have this awesome experience. So it starts out pretty slow. They go do yoga classes, like you said, and then they can go on these retreats. And then when they get to these retreats and they say, well, you can move up higher and then you want to get invited to ⁓ to meet the guru. you're all focused on meditation and like you said, looking within yourself.

and reaching a higher spiritual plane, but they introduced this tantra which also is kind of got a sexual aspect to it. The fact that you could have a more fulfilling sexual experience and such if you learn how to master this and so they would have workshops and listening to a few of the it kind of got a little racy there. yeah. Well, they were saying that the couple of the ladies

were saying that when they got invited to go to the upper ones that it just got flat weird. Like they would bring them in, they wanted to interview them, but then they had to take off all of their clothes and they had to do it in the nude. And then this one girl that said she went through all these interviews and then she got invited to go to this women's retreat thing. When she said, so she shows up there and there's all these women and they're doing all this stuff and they're naked and

And then at the very end, this is really gross, but they had this thing, and everyone, all these women were peeing into this. It was called, not golden showers, but something like that. they're peeing into the same container. And then at the end, they were taking these droppers and they were filling bottles up with it and giving it to the women. And they told them, you need to take this and now put several drops in your water and

Yeah, so they're sharing urine it's an orgy. it was all women the one lady who spoke out of about this she had actually come from Australia and she had gone all the way to France to participate

When she got there she had to give them her identification. had to give them her passport She had to give them the cell phone so she had no way to contact anybody Then she had to go through and sign all of these documents that says I won't talk about anything an NDA Yeah, you have to do an NDA so that you don't talk about anything that happens there and that everything is of your own free will so she got to the

stage and says I'm not participating in this she just sat there and watched and then the next stage was to meet the

said they put a bag over her head. They put her in car and think she even had glasses on or something. And they took her to this place.

And she says it was nothing special. It was this weird apartment with dark rooms I think there were even blinds on the windows There was a bunch of women in there and they were watching porn a bunch of them got up and left and they told her okay. Well you have to go into this room Well what they were having these girls do was making pornographic videos

And that was where all of their money was coming from.

that was part of the

she had to sign in order to eventually get out of there. But one of the other girls who went all the way to meeting the guru and having sex, once that was completed, she was taken to a little house out in the country and she stayed there for almost six months as a online sex

worker and not receiving really any money for everything that she was doing. the main girl in the documentary said when she showed up and and they put her in the room and they told her what she had to do

She had asked some of the girls, well, how long have you been here? And they're like, well, we've been here several weeks. And she's like, well, when do you get to go? And they're like, I don't know. I hope soon.

Basically would tell them well you have to stay until you reach this certain point level of sighting and so they would hold them there indefinitely and you Imagine these girls come for what they think is gonna be a couple weeks school and end up staying for several weeks Make pornographic videos and have sex with the guru which the one girl Described it not the one that left but another girl says well I went through with it. She says it was awful.

He wasn't good-looking. He was this old, know pervy man and she said it was horrible,

This entire thing is just set up as another form of a cult where Gregorian he has gotten all of these people to follow him and participate in

this a portion of the documentary showed that at one time, Romania, where he was from, had been under communist rule. And when the communist curtain fell,

They went back through a lot of the police records and there had been records of him as a sexual predator he had built his whole life and he had gotten a lot of people to follow him and set up this whole organization ⁓ And which really didn't have anything to do with yoga It had to do with the sex and then making money off of it. Exactly. So he has since been arrested ⁓

What I did find interesting ⁓ About that whole documentary was in the country of France They have a police unit that focuses on cult investigations and

in the United States, the majority of the time, those type of investigations just fall to whatever police agency that cult happens to be in that jurisdiction. Or like we're gonna talk about here now, I guess, is the FLDS. They fell under investigation by the FBI, as well as some of the jurisdictions within Utah. We don't have us ⁓ organizations that set up just for cults. here in the US.

Do you typically look into is it a fraud investigation or is it like some type of an assault? Like a sexual assault or you know those type of things but to just investigate cults there isn't

part of the reason for that would be as we've learned is that there is no law Against being in a cult. It's true. There is no law against setting up a cult ⁓ People start following you. ⁓ So there's no law

against that, it's what happens after the fact when people start being defrauded or taken advantage of. And that's the unfortunate part is that you've been led into this little by little and signed over so much that you don't even really realize how far you're into it

like the FLDS, the unfortunate part about that is these people in particular,

really are born into it. you don't know any difference from right or wrong when it comes to this kind of situation. And I think you had read a particular book. I did.

the book I read was stolen innocence and it was about Elissa Wall she was born into this and the FLDS is Pretty bizarre, but if you're born into it you you don't really know She started realizing that something was going very wrong when she was preteen the men

were supposed to have eventually seven wives and as many children as possible. And she started kind of rebelling going, well, I don't agree with all this. And the things that were happening to her, like her father, some of the things he would buy her a gift and they're like, well, you're not allowed to have that. And they'd take the gift away from her. And then they told her when she was what, 13, that she was going to have to get married. And she was like, I don't want to get married. She even went and talked to the head guy and he's like, well, follow

your heart, but then his health declined and he ended up passing away and then his son took over and he's like didn't want to hear any of that. He's like no you're being rebellious you are gonna get married and and there's a whole organization it really focused around the young women and such because a lot of the young men would be chased off at some point. yeah. You know they would be forced out of the organization and such so what that allowed was for the older men

Marry these young girls without any competition. I had hundreds of wives, they would be like 80 years old Marrying, you 14 year old girl. the girl would be expected to consummate the

built this temple with these specific rooms. this was really creepy. It was an all white room with a bed in there and chairs and tables. And so they watched

rape young young girls right and the weird part of this is they kept not only some videos but audios of Everything and it was in this room that was all categorized and and that's how they caught him the FBI eventually ends up doing a raid on the place and they go in and are able to find all of this documentation the

Strange thing that I saw was of course Warren goes into hiding and he takes some of his wives with him Well, and he sets them up in different places so that he has the ability to move from one household to another But when he was on the run, he was traveling with certain women and they were not living the life that he was forcing those people they were going to Vegas and they were partying and drinking and doing all this stuff when he was telling all of his other people

that were following him, you you have to do this, this, this, and you have to wear these clothing and just bizarre things. They separated the children from the mother. Right. But that too is very typical of a cult type situation where the leader has one set of for himself and a completely different set of rules for the people that are following

there was a lot of media attention about

that and the book that she wrote and they turned that into a documentary if you the listening audience haven't actually seen or heard of that before it's kind of a worthwhile read as well as or the or the movie as well to see but ⁓

And so those three that we've hit on, know, they all kind of have something to do with spirituality or God.

Aside from the spirituality end of it, there are other cults out there as well that have nothing to do really with spirituality, but ⁓ more so on power and money and such. some of what's been in the news kind of made me wonder about the Epstein thing as to whether it had any of those aspects going on. But for sure, one that was in the news was the NXIVM ⁓ scandal in which

one of the stars of the show Smallville got caught up in. ⁓ Her mother and then she even introduced it to her daughter. Right. And then the mother started realizing this is messed up. Well then her daughter was so far ingrained in it. She couldn't get her out. This is kind of the same thing. Yeah. And the whole thing that they started going there for were supposedly these classes that would help you be more of a professional executive.

and that you would learn The inside track on how to become a better
